What is Fiber Optic Service?
Traditionally TV, phone, and Internet service was delivered over copper wire, or over the air. Fiber Optic is different, because instead of sending signals through the air, or over copper wire, it sends signals in the form of light through very thin strands of glass. Fiber to the Node vs Fiber to the Home
Currently FiOS is the only service that delivers fiber to the home for all FiOS customers. While U-verse does offer fiber to the home in select areas, U-verse is mainly fiber to the node service. What's the difference? With a fiber to the home connection you get just what the phrase implies. Fiber connected directly to your home from the network. A fiber to the node connection carries the signal from a central, and local access point of the fiber optic network, and transmits to the home from there over traditional copper.
